F1 in Schools will rebrand to STEM Racing, Formula 1 has announced.
The competition will continue to have the support of Formula 1 and the sport’s community, and the mission of the programme will remain the same under the new name.
“Education is the cornerstone of the future of F1 and this is why we are so passionate about empowering future generations globally to pursue their dreams in STEM and motorsport,” Formula 1’s Head of ESG, Ellen Jones said.
“The support for STEM Racing will build on the fantastic work that has already been done over two decades and is the latest example of how we are continuing to make pathways for young people around the world to achieve their goals and show them what is possible,” she said.
Andrew Denford, Founder and Chairman of STEM Racing, has told Off The Track that the rebrand is reflective of the evolving nature of STEM in the competition.
“This rebrand enables us to harness the full support of Formula 1 and the Formula 1 community that supports us,” he said.
“The support of Formula 1 will be just the same, if not more,” Denford said.
Asked on whether the rebrand will affect the competition and the regulations, he said that there was not much further that could be changed, adding that while the competition has a new name, the mission remains the same.
The competition is currently active in over 60 countries, with competing teams aiming to progress through Regional/State and National competitions to reach the World Finals.
World Finals will continue to be held alongside a Formula 1 Grand Prix, with the programme bringing participating students into the Formula 1 paddock at Grands Prix around the world.

“There’s new opportunities, especially in the realm of sponsors. There’s doors closing, but at the same time there’s new doors opening up and we’re looking forward to it,” said Owen, evolut1on’s Head of Marketing and Public Relations.
STEM Racing is the third name change for the competition. Founded in 1999, the competition was originally named Jaguar F1 Team in Schools.
