2022 F1 in Schools World Finals to be held at Silverstone

The 2022 F1 in Schools World Finals will take place in the United Kingdom in July under a hybrid in-person and online arrangement.

The event will be the first F1 in Schools World Finals to be held in person since the COVID-19 pandemic began.

The physical event will be held at the Silverstone Circuit, home of the British Grand Prix. The World Finals will take place the week after the 2022 British Grand Prix, between 9 and 15 July.

Teams will have the opportunity to visit the factories of some of the Formula 1 teams based in the UK.

Founder and Chairman of F1 in Schools, Andrew Denford, said, “it’s our 17th World Finals event this year and only the fourth time that we’ve held it at ‘home’. It’s great to be welcoming our international teams to the UK, both in person and virtually, and we’re indebted to Aramco for their invaluable support to make this such a great event and giving our world finals teams the experience of a lifetime. It’s fitting that we’ll be hosted at Silverstone, where many of our students have watched F1 in action and many of our former students are now employed by race teams who regularly compete at the circuit. I’m looking forward to meeting all our 2022 teams in July.”

The UK has dropped all COVID-19 legal restrictions. Teams will not be legally required to isolate if they test positive to COVID-19 or come into contact with someone who has tested positive to the virus.

The UK has also dropped all international travel restrictions, meaning that teams who choose to travel to the World Finals will not need to quarantine in a hotel or test on arrival.

Many countries still have quarantine requirements which teams will have to follow on return to their home country. This may mean that teams that test positive to COVID-19 will not be able to return home until they return a negative result.

Teams who do not to travel to the event will participate in the event remotely.
